Congratulations to our March Students of the Month!

Last night, the City of Jonesville awarded citizen of the year to three former Jonesville School alum: Dr. Leising, former teacher and current volunteer at WES, and Hayden James and Carson Laney who are 2020 graduates. Their stories of gratitude and service was a model of what the award is about. Though I did not have the pleasure of knowing the two graduates, it was clear the reason they were awarded youth citizens of the year. Congratulations and Go Comets!

From Mrs. Mandrelle: Thursday was the culmination of our engineering unit. All week we imagined, designed, and built pop bottle rockets. It was a beautiful day for a launch. The goal was to get it to go as high as possible and land the egg astronaut safely. Top launch today was about 50 feet with the egg survival. Highest launch overall was about 75 feet with an unfortunate ending to the egg. Overall we had a success rate of 16 out 28 eggs surviving launch and landing.

Please encourage your student to check the lost and found before Spring Break. We will be donating unclaimed items on Friday, March 31.

We have been overwhelmed with shed requests!! The JCS community is awesome!! Thanks to so many of you who have expressed interest in supporting our Trades classes. At this time we have more than 20 requests for sheds!! I wish we had the time to build them all. Hopefully, you will have more opportunities to support our program. Our students are excited to build stuff. Next year we hope to have more students who want to do that. But at this time we are at our limit (and then some). The pricing comes down to materials and discussions with the client on what they feels is a fair price. Thanks! Go Comets!

The Jonesville Middle School staff was honored to wear their "Raise Hope & Foster Dreams" t-shirt (provided by Hillsdale and Branch County branches of MDHHS) to provide awareness around the great need for foster care.
Keep Kids in Our Community!
Wear your t-shirt with school pride,
While spreading the message far and wide.
Our kids need places to lay their heads,
Our county is lacking foster home beds.
Children are leaving schools, teachers, and friends,
Recruiting foster families will help end these trends.
Our kids need us to do our best,
To find loving families on our quest.
You can help, it is simple you see,
Just sport this shirt around the community!!!

Happy Pi Day! Mrs. Rice's class practiced calculating circumference today to celebrate.

National Parks Science completed their final project of the trimester last week. The students made dioramas of their favorite park. These included labels to a key describing key features of the park. See if you can pick out the parks and some of the pieces that make each park unique!

Good evening Comet families! This is just a reminder that tomorrow Friday, March 10th is a half day for all students. Please make arrangements accordingly. Have a good night and go Comets!

On Monday, March 13 Jonesville Middle School will host a presentation on OK2SAY, Michgan's student safety program. Please review the parent letter and contact Mrs. Ramirez if you have any questions.
