Jonesville Community,
The facility assessment is completed and Elite will be sharing an overview of the condition of each of our facilities. They will share this at our study session Monday, November 21st at 6:00 at Jonesville High School. I will share the detailed version of the assessment on our website for you to look at afterwards. This information will help guide our facility planning for the future.
Thank you and we hope to see you there!

Good evening Comet families! I’m reaching out to you tonight to let you know that school will resume tomorrow, Thursday the 17th.
JCS was fortunate that some of the systems we utilize were/are separate from the Jackson County ISD. We will continue to monitor diligently though.
I thank you for your patience and look forward to seeing staff and students tomorrow. Go Comets!
Erik Weatherwax
Superintendent, Jonesville Community Schools

Good evening,
Over the weekend, our technology consortium suffered a systems outage. The outage affected critical operating systems in the district, including but not limited to heating, telephones, and classroom technology. Jackson County ISD technology staff is working to fully investigate the disruptions and to restore affected systems.
Because this will take some time, superintendents from both Jackson and Hillsdale counties have determined the best course of action is to close schools for tomorrow, Monday, November 14, 2022.
We understand the difficulties this decision may cause, and appreciate your understanding and patience as our technology team works around the clock to get our systems back online and our students back in school. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
Sincerely,
Erik Weatherwax
Superintendent, Jonesville Community Schools

We love Jilly Beans Too! Mrs. Lee's CIA class spent some time recently volunteering at this local business.

The local ecology students worked with a DNR naturalist to build a virtual arboretum in the woods behind the football field. They practiced identifying trees, the naturalist checked their identifications, and then the students worked hard researching their trees. The student research was added to a website. Today they put tags on their trees. The tag has a QR code that links to their research. Now anyone taking a walk through the woods can learn about the trees thanks to their research.

Our Jonesville Middle School Research class had a great day last Thursday. We have been working on a basic small business plan based off of the show “Shark Tank.” The students set up a food truck by researching various costs such as ingredients, equipment, trucks, etc . They also had to determine cost, customer price, profit for their meals. They all made wonderful presentations to our “sharks” of Jonesville. It was great seeing how the kids responded under pressure.
Thank you to our “sharks,” Mrs. Packer (our instructional assistant), Mrs. Ramirez (our principal), Mrs. Phelps (our food service director), Mr. Graves (our local businessman ), and Mrs. Horton (our local business woman and lawyer). They were a great audience who asked great questions that challenged our students to think deeper!
The final winning group was “Breakfast Paradise” created by Maddison, Hayleigh, Brooke, Leona, and Alanna. They had the most sound business plan and answered their questions well.
As part of our class, we also have a chance to present our business models to the original Shark Tank food truck winners, Cousins Maine Lobster executive team. The students will have a chance to pitch their ideas to the Southern California based company and get advice from the members! What a cool opportunity to get Jonesville "on the map" and show off our amazing students across the country!
Congratulations to all of our students for developing lifelong skills and maybe someday you will see some of the food trucks around our town. Hopefully you have a chance to visit Hot Grills BBQ, Smoothie Strong, Michigan Sub, Delightful Desserts, & Breakfast Paradise.

Last Friday our weekly PBIS winners got to decorate (and eat!) pumpkin sugar cookies with Mrs. Rowe.

Comet families! As a follow up to our security assessment, JCS will be holding a forum on school security and safety next Wednesday, November 9th at 6:00 pm at Jonesville High School. There will be a representative from Secure Education Consultants present to answer any questions you may have. We hope to see you there!

Tune into Bob Flynn's Afternoon Radio Extravaganza on WCSR Monday the 31st at 2:30 to listen to Mr. Snyder and Comet student Caleb Blonde discuss our new small engines class! They are doing great things!

Mrs. Mandrelle's "Shark Tank" project is getting noticed. Check this out!

Cross country practice is the best when the air is cool, the sun is bright, the leaves are crisp, and you’re surrounded by your team!
